Will Covid-19 Affect My Virginia Insurance?

As our work and lives have been disrupted, NNINS is seeking new ways to serve our members, neighbors and communities. Our hearts go out to everyone who has felt the impact of these difficult times, especially those that have lost the things we look to for stability and comfort: our jobs, being with the friends and family we love so much, and even the devastating loss of a loved one. This is not the time to be worried about your insurance.

As a Virginia-based company, owned and operated by Virginians, we are also adapting; we are also adapting to redefine and maintain excellent insurance service while practicing social distance. If you have a home, auto, renters, or any insurance policy with Northern Neck Insurance, we also want to assure you we are committed to working with anyone financially affected by Covid-19. Our priority is to help you stay protected so you can focus on what matters most — caring for your family's health and safety.

We're open

Under our state's mandated business closures, we are an essential business and will stay open to service our members. We have implemented safety procedures to protect our members, independent agents, and employees throughout Virginia with a remote workflow and digital tools.

If you experience a claim, we will provide the same coverage, customer service, and outstanding claims processing we have always delivered. Our online Member Center is available for a variety of services including:

  • Making payments
  • Viewing and downloading policy documents
  • Viewing billing details
  • Printing your ID cards
  • Reporting a claim
  • Accessing your local agent's contact information

We have temporarily closed our offices to the public except for essential employees, deliveries, and vendors for the safety of our members and remaining on-site team members. Our employees, both on-site and remote, will continue the normal workflow of policy management, claims processing, and writing new business. You may call us Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. for assistance with your policy and claims at 804-438-6611 or toll-free at 800-552-8660.

Your local independent agent

As we adapt to protect our team members and support our communities, we also include more than 200 independent agents who operate small local businesses across main street Virginia. They are also practicing social distancing mandates for your safety and the safety of their employees. Like us, that includes remote working and limited office hours or closures. For more information, please visit your agent's website to make direct contact via phone or email. They are committed to providing the best service to you possible as they make necessary adjustments to daily operations.

If you have a claim

If you experience a claim, we will provide the same coverage, customer service and outstanding claims processing we have always delivered while implementing our Covid-19 work plan. There are several simple and convenient options.

Start HerE
  • Start a claims online through the Member Center.

  • Call our 24/7 Hotline (including glass claims): 877-968-7252

  •  For auto claims, use our ClaimsGo App. With our Northern Neck ClaimGo Auto app, you can submit your claim quickly and easily right from your smartphone. Just snap a few photos, and we'll get right back to you with an estimate. Click below to download the app to your phone!

Working with an adjuster

We've suspended all unnecessary damage inspections except for emergencies, such as water damage with an active leak or threat of mold. When necessary, we can do in-home reviews and estimates through a real-time video chat with our members or using photos that you submit to us online.

Our adjusters may continue to do exterior property inspections outside the home with member permission. Our property adjusters follow CDC Guidelines, including social distancing and following sanitation guidelines. If you have a material damage claim that requires on-site estimates, our appraisers will follow the same CDC guidelines.

If you can't pay your bill due to Covid-19

Like everyone else, we are continuing to adjust to this unprecedented situation. Virginia's shelter-in-place order has been in effect for just a few weeks, which has already resulted in significant changes in how people are using their homes and vehicles. Right now, our priority is working with members to help them keep their insurance coverages in force by deferring premium payments for those who have lost income.

If you have been furloughed or have lost work due to Covid-19, we will work with you to keep your insurance in force.

When you contact us, please provide your first and last name, address, policy number, and the best daytime contact number for you. You will receive an automated email confirmation that your message is received and we will respond within 24 hours Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Refunds for Auto Policies

Some of you have asked about auto refunds. It is essential to fully understand how the pandemic is affecting our members and their coverages, now and into the future. Like everyone else, we are adjusting to an unprecedented situation. We will announce the details of our auto refund program very soon. We appreciate your patience and trust in us to best serve your insurance needs. Stay tuned!

Redefining Service

We hope we have lightened your load. We want you to know we are working every day diligently to adjust our practices to best serve you during the pandemic. Rest assured during these uncertain times that while some aspects of our operations have changed, much has stayed the same with NNINS: trusted, reliable insurance protection when you need help. We hope you don't experience further hardship during this time, but if you need to file a claim, let us know. We'll get you through it.
